billy crystal is returning to host the oscars in 2012, it was confirmed thursday. he will be replacing eddie murphy, who quit wednesday following brett ratner's departure.
ratner was forced out (i mean, given the opportunity to "resign") following a statement he made in an interview that "rehearsal was for fags." he was replaced by long time producer brian grazer.
got that? what a mess.
billy crystal will be returning to the oscar stage for the first time since 2004. this will be his 9th time hosting.
the oscars will air on february 26th, 2012.
all i want to know is...where is hugh jackman when you need him?
