i have been compiling some fashion pics this week to review and realized, music plays such a big part in everything we do, why not see what songs got the most play on our playlist? considering the amount of zany dancing and singing that usually ends up happening in the studio, why wouldn't our list be just as important as anyone else's!?!?
so here it is...our 25 most played tunes of 2010...
25) "shark in the water"...vv brown. heard for the first time on a degrassi commercial. go figure ;)
24) "breakeven (falling to pieces"...the script. yes, the band that was on the last season of "the hills"
23) "100 yard dash"...raphael saadiq. a free itunes song from starbucks turned into one of my favorite songs of the year.
22) "shattered (turn the car around)"...O.A.R. by the name, i always thought these guys were heavy. beautiful melody.
21) "10/10"...paolo nutini. the whole album is an incredible but little heard follow-up to the success of "new shoes".
20) "please don't leave me"...pink. she can do wrong, as far as i'm concerned. we're jamming to "raise your glass" right now, as a matter of fact.
19) "fireflies"...owl city. very reminiscent of postal service. but i think this only made the list b/c we played it so many times to torture our assistant!
18) "secrets"...onerepublic. another song we heard first on "the hills". didn't realize what a juggernaut it was! ;)
17) "uprising"...muse. another band that can do no wrong in my book. except for maybe writing a song for the twilight movie.
16) "i do not hook up"...kelly clarkson. this is definitely one that made the list from many late night plays (and karaoke sessions)
15) "say hey (i love you)"...mchael franti & spearhead. just a great feel good song to make people happy!
14) "true love"...angels & airwaves. such a great tune...kind of the unofficial theme song for rosita jones studio.
13) "poker face"...lady gaga. i'm getting over her these days, but let's face it. it was the year of the bomb that was gaga.
12) "kiss them for me"...siouxsie & the banshees. one of the greatest songs of all time!
11) "try a little tenderness"...otis redding. you can never go wrong with a little otis.
10) "empire state of mind"...jay-z featuring alicia keys. of course, a little partial to this one since NYC is our second home. i have a feeling it will be getting a ton of play this year as well.
9) "just say yes"...snow patrol. a band that changes their sound w/ every album. one of the best songs of the year.
8) "uptight (everything's alright)"...stevie wonder. how can you not be in a good mood when this comes on?
7) "sometime around midnight"...the airborne toxic event. a great song by a band we heard in the middle of the night on mtv. when they actually play videos!
6) "waking up in vegas"...katy perry. the girl's the queen of the feel good, don't take it so seriously pop tune.
5) "use somebody"...kings of leon. this was on constant replay when it first came out. in the studio and on the radio.
4) "intervention"...arcade fire. should have been a way bigger hit than it was. what an amazing and haunting tune.
3) "paparazzi"...lady gaga. again, it was the year of gaga. now put some clothes on girl and put away the meat dress.
2) "i gotta feeling"...black eyed peas. file under...your usual happy dance around the party jam. i bet marcy thinks this should be "boom boom pow" ;)
and surprisingly enough, the #1 most played song at rosita jones studio in 2010...
1) "your love is my drug"...kesha. WOW. i don't know why i am surprised by this, this is the song that usually came on at the end of every shopping party, trunk show and open house last year. it is a ridiculously catchy tune with no substance whatsoever. and you no what, it doesn't have to have any...
this is fashion, people, not brain surgery!
