in a sea of depressing, heavy as hell oscar nominees (dallas buyers club, august: osage county, and 12 years a slave sure ain't got a lot of laughs happening), "the LEGO movie" is a happy-go-lucky, visually amazing gem. it's fun for kids, it's funny for adults. and yes, everything is AWESOME.
trees. frogs. clogs. they're AWESOME. if you can make it out of this one without smiling, it's time to seek professional help my friend. get to it. IMMEDIATELY! a.
jimmy fallon is having a STELLAR first week as the host of the tonight show! and what would his first couple of shows be without a visit from his favorite co-hort??

or did tara lipinski and johnny weir go to the same plastic surgeon?!?!
and why is no one else noticing this but me?!?!
everyone is SO busy rattling on and on about how johnny is giving the big gay finger to the bigots of russia, through his fabulous wardrobe.
but nobody is talking about how neither one of them are...
a) old enough to have had that much work did. and b) how both are looking like at any second their faces could just start melting off?? tsk, tsk, cute little figure skating bunnies. WHY!?!?! a. (images via huffington post, usa today.)
it's time, kiddies. NEW YORK FASHION WEEK. the folks at lincoln center have been hard at work scraping the slush off the tents so that you don't get any muck yuck on your beautiful little red bottom stilettos...
and for the next eight days, all will be right (if not a tad too cold) in the fashion world. unless you are a blogger. then you will be running your little ass off all over town trying to find all of the other places designers are showing this year instead of the tents.
but fret not, you stylish little bunnies! if you cannot be there to freeze your anorexic asses off with the rest of the models/actors/hipsters...
you can click here for live feed of the shows that are still showing at the tents. and stay toasty warm at the same time! a. (images via ny times, mb fashion week.)
the social networking site that started in a harvard dorm room (or was stolen, depending on who you believe) is now a global enterprise with 1.23 billion users worldwide, and worth 135 BILLION DOLLARS. and mark zuckerberg isn't even 30 yet. jeezy kreezy. i guess that's his paperclip... a. the highly coveted "vanity fair" hollywood issue cover has been revealed! and it is making history... some usual suspects (julia roberts, george clooney) share cover space with first timers including "12 years a slave" stars chiwetel ejiofor and lupita nyong'o, and "wolf of wall street" newcomer margot robbie. and for the first time, a record six african american actors are featured on the cover. (finally.) thank you, vanity fair. beautiful! a. (the vanity fair march hollywood issue, shot by annie leibovitz, hits newsstands february 11th.)
to everyone who said bruno mars should not have been the halftime entertainer at the super bowl last night... he shut your ass up, didn't he?!? bruno BROUGHT IT.
and who knew he could beat on the drums like that?!?! bringing the red hot chili peppers out was definitely a strange and interesting mix, but those old boys (flea and anthony keidis are both FIFTY ONE YEARS OLD!!) rocked out "give it away" like it was 20 years ago... dare i say it?? the halftime show was the best part of that boring ass game! a.
well, the commercials during last night's super bowl were about as exciting as the game. (hey denver, where were you?!?! congrats seahawks!) one spot definitely stood out amidst all of the REALLY OVERPRICED crap they visually assaulted us with last night...
so congrats to radio shack. you spent the last 5 million you had on it. but it was a good one... viva la 80's! a.
this is terrible, terrible news. philip seymour hoffman has died of an apparent drug overdose.
he was 46 years old. he was found by a friend earlier today in his west village apartment in new york city.
one of the greatest acting talents of our time, he is best known for his roles in "almost famous", "magnolia", "the talented mr. ripley", "boogie nights", and his oscar winning turn as truman capote in 2005's "capote." too bad he was a stupid asshole that stuck a needle in his arm. such a shame. a. in honor of his 60th birthday, howard stern threw a birthday bash to remember last night at the hammerstein ballroom in new york city.
the stars came out in droves to toast (and roast) stern, including joan rivers, tracy morgan, robert downey jr., even david letterman (the real one, not the guy who sounds an awful lot like him on the show!)
musical performances included the black keys, john mayer, dave grohl, and an amazing rendition of "purple rain" by adam levine (adam levine?!?! go figure.)
you know you're important when you get that many celebrities under one roof for your bday party.
